Vijay Boolani is a graduate of Economics (Honors) from the University of Bombay and joined Boolani Engineering Corporation in the year 1974. BEC was established in 1949 and introduced the First Plastics Processing Extruder in India. They have till date over 15000 installations of various plants and machineries, having a processing capacity of over millions of tons of polymers per year. Over the years, he has acquired thorough knowledge of Plastic and Engineering Technology, under the guidance of his illustrious father whose contribution to the Plastic Industry in India is quite significant.
In 1984, he was instrumental in setting up the first indigenous plant for production of polyester, nylon and polypropylene filament yarn. Thereafter developed Extrusion Spinning Plants for PGA/PLLA filaments for bio-degradable sutures and very recently for plant Extrusion Melt spinning of fibers for aerospace application. Extrusion Spin lines for converting PET Bottles to Fiber. In 1982 he designed and manufactured probably the first multipurpose extrusion line to produce LD/LLDPE/HDPE/HW-HDPE/PP Blown films. Most recently developed a complete line to crush-grind-wash-dry-pelletize-bag composite line for recycling engineering plastics waste using Twin screw extruders. He heads the Boolani Group of Industries as Managing Director, comprising of Boolani Engineering Corporation, Boolani Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Boolani Investments Ltd., Canara Polypack Ltd., Interlink Plastics and Fibres Pvt. Ltd., Threebee Petrochem Industries Pvt. Ltd., Kacoplast Industries Pvt. Ltd., Lila Filplast Industries Pvt. Ltd and Boolani Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. The above group of companies have varied interests in manufacture of plastics processing machinery, synthetic yarn plants, food extrusion equipment, production of sophisticated injection and blow moulding machines, extrusion lines for recycling, compounding, master batches, woven sacks, packaging films, monofilaments and products thereof, polythene and styrene foam sheets, consulting and turnkey set up Plastics, Food, Fibers, Chemicals, Textile and Paper projects, exports of general commodities and financial investments. His job function entails handling conception, sales, exports and setting up new projects. Current projects are "Create Plastics Waste to Wealth". He plays a vital role in the organization.
He has extensively travelled throughout the globe and also visited many leading companies manufacturing Plastic and Synthetic Fiber processing machines. Interest in Polymers, Plastics and Chemicals gave him an opportunity to study the latest manufacturing techniques in the machine building industry and this in turn has improved the quality of the machines manufactured by Boolani Engineering Corporation.
