Mr. Arvind M. Mehta

Past President (1995-96)

Mr. Arvind M. Mehta was the President of SPE Indian Section for the year 1995-96, a year which saw many Seminars, conferences and get together. He is connected with Indo German

Chamber of Commerce, Indian Plastics Institutes, The Plastics Export Promotion Council and The Indian Institute of Packaging in the past. Mr. Arvind M. Mehta was President of The Bombay Fountain Pen Manufacturers & Traders Association for three years (1991-94).

Mr. Arvind M. Mehta, a Science graduate from Shivaji University, Kolhapur is the Managing Director of M/s. Welset Plast Extrusions Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, one of the leading manufacturers of PVC compounds, Medical tubes, Olefins, styrene and PVC Master Batches. He has been in plastics industry for nearly 30 years. He is widely traveled abroad and attended a number of exhibitions.

Earlier he was Hon. Treasurer and then Hon Secretary of the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association an apex body serving the cause of plastics industry and trade in India during which Plastivision India 98 Mega Exhibition of Plastics was held. He is the Vice President of Indo Myanmar Chamber of Commerce & Industries. He is also connected with several cultural and social organizations.

He was the Co-Chairman of Marketing Committee Plastindia 97 and Chairman of Administrative Committee in Plastindia 2000. He was the Chairman of The All India Plastics Manufactures Association Seminar Committee and has conducted nearly 60 Seminars, Lectures, and Talks etc. on plastics across the country very successfully. He was the President of the All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association for three years (1999-2002).

Kabra has graduated in Economics Honors. He is among the few, who in 60’s had a clear vision and foresight of the immense potentiality of Plastics Industry in India which was in its nascent and primitive stage

Mr. Surinder Ahluwalia

Past President

Mr. Surinder Ahluwalia has been a plastics professional for the last 43 years, and has techno-commercial experience (including senior corporate Management) with the world’s leading companies in India and U.S.A. He is a SPE (Society of Plastics Engineers) member since 1989, when he joined the Palisades Section in U.S.A. An Honors graduate in Chemistry from the Institute of Science, Mumbai, followed by B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, U.S.A. Schooling from Bishop Cotton School, Shimla.

Worked in NOCIL, the first integrated petrochemicals complex in India, from its inception in 1966 till 1980 in Marketing and production of PVC Compounds. While at NOCIL, Mr. Ahluwalia was posted at its Delhi branch from 1969 till 1978, looking after marketing for northern India. Served as the Secretary of the Delhi Chapter of the then Plastics & Rubber Institute, for two terms. Last position was that of Business Manager, Baerlocher USA, and earlier the country manager for the Baerlocher Group in India and CEO/Director of its wholly owned subsidiary, Baerlocher India Additives Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai.
